Spring flower arranging - with baskets and spring flowers
Spring is almost here and the world is getting out of their winter hibernation. And what better way than with a fresh spring flower arranging basket?
We all have a basket of some kind in our homes. If you think you don’t have a flower basket, I bet you do: how about those break roll baskets that you have lying around? These are perfectly suitable for a flower arrangement. One of these will make for an intriguing centerpiece on your dinner table.
Baskets are usually not watertight, so you need a pinholder or a small bowl with a pinholder.
For flowers, you can use daffodils, narcissi and tulips for this time of the year. Stems of pussy willows which if picked when fresh, can be bent into soft round shapes. These allow them to form the setting for the spring flowers in your arrangement. When you bend branches, you need to be careful and slow with your hands on the branch so that your thums are touching while you press gently to cause the curving. Once the branches dry out, they will retain their round shape.
The arrangement is very simple and it allows the beauty of both the flowers and the pussy willow to be clearly seen through the basket. As the basket is usually made of wooden twigs, it enhances natural overal look of the arrangement. Forsythia and yellow tulipsĀ or daffodils together will make a beautiful sunny arrangement that will lighten up your dinner table.
